Germany was amazing and beautiful and as soon as I get back to my room in the States I am grabbing my old Treffpunkt Deutsch and teaching myself some grammar.  I have an interest in Germany dating from… probably my junior year of high school, when I took a college class on the Faust myth.  There is so much interesting German philosophy (I have a theory about this) and culture and history,...

Mostly I seem to meet other foreigners, other transients who are here to learn Spanish or party and who will go home in four months or a year or what have you. (it’s also different to be from France or Italy, versus across a...

what we learn in English class
“the dishwasher is NEVER in the bathroom.  Sometimes, there is a washing machine in the bathroom, but never a dishwasher.”   “if you put your head in the oven, you will bake yourself.”

Afterwards, we waited at the bus station for two hours until a lovely lady from Couchsurfing came to help us drag everything we brought to this country on and off another bus and up to her 4th floor apartment.
